Regardless of your opinions on Caitlyn and the Kardashians, I would encourage you to use the term "transgender" or trans* with an asterisk! Many people take offense to the term "transsexual" in modern dialogues and it's technically inaccurate.

Oh, it's fine! A lot of people don't know because "transsexual" is still prevalent among non-LGBT+ circles. Essentially, transgender is more appropriate because biological sex can't be changed (though physical bodies can via hormones), while gender, gender expression, physical appearance, hormone balance, etc. can all be changed by a person who feels their biological sex doesn't "match" their gender. Plus, not all trans* people get what is referred to as "sex reassignment" surgery (which is really just cosmetic and some people aren't comfortable with it). It's just more inclusive and accurate.

Oh, ok. I always thought that transgender was for people who hadn't had a physical alteration, and transsexual was for people who had already received a sex change. I didn't mean it in any negative way.
