As a songwriter, she was also nominated for the prestigeous Song of the Year Grammy Award 2 times: 1991 Vision of Love, We Belong Together 2006).
Madonna on the other hand has never been even nominated for a Grammy for Song of the Year.
Taylor Swift has also been nominated twice for a Grammy for Song of The Year (both of which as a co-writer like Mariah).

Popularity =/= Quality
There are examples when both go hand in hand, but much more often they dont.
How many Grammys does Leonard Cohens best albums won? Or Bob Marleys, Velvets, The Clashs or even Bob Dylans at his artistic peak? I will answer this for you - None! All of them belong to already legendary artists whose best albums changed the music scene for good while being ignored by the Grammys when it mattered. Yeah, Grammys later wanted to make up for the snubs by giving Leonard and Bob Marley the Lifetime Achievement award, or including The Clashs and Velvets albums into their Grammys Hall Of Fame or by giving Bob Dylan a lot of awards for insignificant stuff decades after his peak, because time showed how important those artists are.
On the other hand, how many nominations does Katy Perry have? Wasnt Bieber nominated? What about Milli Vanilli? Or BEP? Lol Come on now.
Grammys are a popularity contest, where critics chose the safest and most acclaimed option from the currently popular artists as their winner, and the labels sponsoring them have a lot to do with who gets the nods/noms.
