Oh well I live on the west coast and I think the system I mentioned is how it is everywhere here except for certain private schools that actually run K-12.

Maybe its different all over Canada though idk.

Where I live Elementary is K-4th, middle school is 5th-8th, and high school is 9th-12th

Yes!! It looks great on paper as well, and an experience like no other. Everyone should one day have the chance to travel and help those in need, it really widens your world.

Middle school here is only 7th/8th grade, and it's basically a sugar coated babysitting service.

But what do I know, I rarely went. They passed you to the next grade no matter what.

Yeah, this is the same set-up as we have here in Ontario. + junior & senior kindergarten.

However, it has two wings so they are mostly separate and only share the lunch room.

Middle school seems annoying.

I kind of like our system because in grades 6/7 you feel like you rule the school and then reality is handed to you when you're in 8/9 and you're bottom of the pack at high school.

In my town the school system is different (kinda like this for most of the state too)

K-4.

Then 5-6 had their own school. Then 7-8 had their own school. The 9-12

I cannot imagine having that many age ranges of kids in one school. Or staying in the same school for my entire school career. We went through 3 different schools.

Middle school seems like a nice introductory to high school life, though. I had a bit of a social shock after going from my small elementary school in a remote town, to a high school that entertained an entire county. It was hard adjusting to everything; and I feel like middle school, where kids from a nearby town also attended, might have helped ease me into things? I don't know.

Yeah. So did I growing up.

...but this is a specialty school that focuses on the performing arts, so it is a bit smaller. I think we only have 700 students.

I like Grades 10-12. Everyone is actually serious and mature, they care about what they're doing, and most of them want to succeed.
