If you're smart about it you can buy a lot of the Amiibo for cheap.
I only ever buy the common ones when they're on sale, 20% off, 3 for 30, b1g1, you name it.

I have: Mario, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Link, Zelda, Sheik, Toon Link, Pit, Palutena, Pikachu, Charizard, Olimar and Kirby.
I've ordered Lucina, Robin and Ike from the UK store so hopefully they'll be here soon. I said I'll stop as soon as I got Villager and the Splatoon trio but I'll probably never get them so I'll keep going. I was so lucky with my lot though, Pit and Zelda were my very first figures. I just saw them in the shop and bought them the day they came out without planning on it. Very glad I did now haha.

Now that the Wii U is officially dead and there's like no big games on the horizon that warrant an amiibo line I'll finally be able to give my wallet a rest

I bought one of those amiibos but I havent really figured out how it works. I was really excited to buy more because theres a magnet that lets me mix and match the tops and bottoms of them, but my gamepad doesn't want to recognize them. Can anyone help me? I don't want to go buy more if they don't even work. I keep having issues with all my Nintendo things. Are they even a respectable company?

Of course Nintendo is a respectable company. They've been in the gaming industry for years and revived the home video game genre years ago.
Which amiibo did you get and what do you mean by replacing the magnet? The base? Also what system are you trying to get them to work on?

His name is wash buckler, I think. He might be from that squid game, I wasn't really familiar with him, but he looked fun. I have brawl all up and running, but the game isn't really recognizing him as anything. Maybe I'm missing a menu or something.
Anyway, his upper half comes off from his bottom half and they're held in place with a magnet. I thought there were a lot that did that?
