So many of my beloved ladies from the island of Lesbos. I was not expecting Ms. Farris to make it here. Thanks, Ace!
Although it is not part of the rate I'd like to share Dionne's second single, which was seriously beautiful. An ode to female strength released to fight domestic violence.
A while back, Ferst and Edge of Addiction hosted an ULTIMATE rate for the big pop girls of our time: Britney, Christina, Jenny Lo, Pink, Alicia, Avril, Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, Ciara, Rihanna, Taylor, Miley, Gaga, Katy, and Adele. They will ALL be excluded from the 2000s/2010 editions.
But fret not! I can come up with forty women who are still eligible - and that's off the top of my head!

Poor Chante Moore and Tamia. For some reason I thought they were other girls until I did my research. Tamia still has a shot at maybe part 3 of 00s
There will probably be parts 4 and 5 of the 90s - just saying!
Lots of stuff here that I'm not too familiar with! This should be fun to listen through, and hopefully I find one or two gems that really stick with me after the rate.
1) Even the songs I didn't know before I am LOVING. I Don't Know Why is lovely, and I Believe in Love is a ****ing BOP.
2) Man, that Left of the Middle stuff has aged poorly. Torn is obviously Torn, and Wishing I Was There has a great chorus, but the other two are on some sub-Morrisette tip - is there anything worse?
3) Seriously not even entertaining the idea of anyone not liking Rockell's material. It is PERFECT.
But that's her point! The New Jersey/Staten or Long Islandness of it all! It's not beholden to general ideas of "quality." It's kinda sorta brilliant, and exactly the point of freestyle - it's always supposed to sound cheap and a bit English as Ffith Language. Hopefully more people can get this!

Yeah, I can hear Alanis in Big Mistakes, but not in Smoke.
