Prue was also the most strategic and inventive. Phoebe was the best fighter and had the most magical knowledge. Paige was the most dedicated and courageous.
Paige was the most noble sister. Towards the end, Piper became too distracted with saving Leo and Phoebe became too distracted with getting pregnant. Paige was the only one who couldn't ignore her charges and she seemed like the only sister who cared about saving innocents.
Also, whenever they are under a spell Paige is usually the first one to break out of it (i.e. House Call, Gone With the Witches, Cheaper by the Coven). She is the most dedicated to the craft. She even quit her job to devoted herself fully to magic. Her character is very admirable.
Umm there were episodes where she was deemed as powerless in season 3. "Death Take A Halliwell" comes to mind where she couldn't battle death. She really struggled with that.
Also, the episode where Piper got married she was suppressing the feeling of carrying the burden for the other two sisters since Piper was getting married and Phoebe went back to school. She had to create an astral version of herself to let loose and forget her responsibilities.
It's kinda sad when you think about it considering her fate.
Yeah i agree but in some ways her pride got the best of her. I mean she could have used her power to throw Dr. Griffiths away from Shax and do something to get her and Piper some time. Even her telling Piper for them to walk outside in broad daylight to find Shax when she knew that there was a chance of being exposed. Yes i'm overthinking this but in some ways it makes sense. Even the line "No demon has ever stopped me before and they won't be the first" kind of shows how strong she thought she was even with her moments of breaking down.
I, for one, really enjoyed Prue's "take charge" attitude. In fact, she was basically the only thing that kept the sisters alive in the first three seasons. Without her, they would have died in the pilot episode, honestly. Her genius as a witch is really underrated; her creating the crystal cage, teaching the sisters how to astral project, etc. The other sisters just got way too whiney for me in the later seasons; it made me appreciate Prue's attitude and her dedication to protect her family.
So I've been trying to do some categorising based on the sister's talents.
So Piper was the best at making potions. It's been mentioned many times in the show and commented on by Paige and Phoebe. Among her greatest feats were creating potions that mimic her own powers. A skill she learned from her culinary skills and also from Grams who taught her things subtly growing up and wrote most of the potions in the books and was considered the best potions maker of the whole Warren line.
Phoebe was the best at spells. It was mentioned a bunch of times in the show and she was the first person to every write a spell between the sisters. Amongst her greatest feats was creating the spell that killed the Source by calling on the Warren line's powers. Leo also mentioned that she wrote hundreds of spells in the book.
Phoebe was also mentioned as being the most intuitive of the sisters (possibly because of her power). This aspect of her was apparently legendary within demonic circles and so demons were more hesitant about attacking her and instead going after her sisters.
Paige because of her white lighter side has the most powers of all the sisters. Those white lighter powers are mainly passive though and seem to be binded by her being able to fully use them when in the service of her of good and her charges (remember she ultimately became the Charmed One's white lighter so that explains her using them for their benefit). On the flip side she was the sister with the fewest witch powers, she could only telekinetically orb throughout the series. In the comics she eventually developed the Orb Shield as another power which Wyatt had.
Prue before her death was the most powerful sister with the most innate magical energy of them all. This is because she was the first born. So she mastered her telekinesis before the rest of them and gained a new power before them as well. Her being the most powerful sister was commented on by the sisters themselves and many of their enemies. Her having the more innate magical energy is also proven on the show. Before the time reset and her death, Piper and Prue excluding Phoebe were strong enough to vanquish Shax together the first time. After Prue died, Piper and Phoebe needed Paige and the power of three to be able to vanquish Shax.

Prue was also the smartest by single handedly creating the crystal cage that vanquished the Source in the Seer's original vision.

No. She risked her life tons of times for her sisters and she was an amazing character because of how strong she was however she ended up getting herself killed because she was reckless in her last episode. And to an extent it fit her character because in some ways she thought she was unstoppable

The way Phoebe murked Paige that one time, I'd put my money on her.
Like someone mentioned Phoebe was the better at hand to hand and I suppose that made her the most physically fit. I feel like Prue would easily win a verbal fight and would know which buttons to push with Phoebe and if it ever came to hand to hand I feel like she'd fight dirty. I still think Phoebe would slightly edge her out.

I still think it was Phoebe's fault Prue died. That's mainly because I always hated how they never explained how she got out of the underworld.
