I think sales and streams were fairly good for a while, but stopped. Radio actually held on to it for a long time. It is very radio friendly, though. Sort of reminds me of JT's Take Back The Night for some reason and that suffered the same fate
I can't get online much, but I just wanted to check out Little Big Town's "Girl Crush" on All Stations + Recurrents Spins & Audience Charts, (AS+R) which has dropped GC slower than the Published chart, but still its losses are incredible for even the Country Chart. Check this out below. especially since AS+R Audience Charts usually drop songs the slowest (which I use, since it most closely resembles the movement on the other formats' charts):

So even though the song is still selling and streaming well, Country has dropped this song faster than they've dropped any song in a LONG time. This basically kills GC's chances of ever crossing over to Top 40, because Adult Top 40/Hot AC started dropping it when Country was dropping it 4 to 5 (or even more) million impressions a day. One bad week is not that unusual after a song peaks, but two like this is rare nowadays (more like the 1990s).
And just today GC has dropped on Country AS+R to #25 (-5) on spins with 4988/-468, and #26 (-3) on Audience with 22.794/-1.912, so it really isn't slowing down this week either. And while the song was sort of a slow climber, there have been much slower climbers at the Country format that Country Radio has dropped much slower than this. This could be some sexism at work too, since this format is known for being very sexist in its playlists right now.
Not enough promo, I guess.
I expected it to be big, it's one of his bearable songs
