Basically every female pop star whose début single smashes right out the gate is branded a one-hit-wonder until they prove that they're not. There was nothing special or unique about Katy's case, I'm afraid.

I think she's scared of pissing off and losing the teeny boppers. In 2015, Katy and Taylor basically do the exact same thing and appeal to the exact same people.

I'm really not sure it's all cooked up by their labels. I think they hate each other.
