I've listened to it a few times (plus Erotica and In This Life end up in my playlists), but I'm listening again now and it's so much more impressive than I remember it being.

Like ROL level artistry.
Erotica is her best to me, in all honesty. That, Confessions and Ray of Light make up the trinity (ROL can be swapped for LAP easily though).
In another life you would be my song
We keep all your messy leaks, be us against the world
And in other life you woudn't be pressed to change the song
So I don't have to say you were the bop that got away
The bop that got away!
Confessions is a great album to play start to finish, but I don't think its songs are individually as good as the individual songs on LAP/ROL/E.
I fell in love with Confessions listening to the version where each song has a clear beginning and ending rather than the truly continuous version. That probably has a bearing on my opinion.
The way you feel about Confessions is the way I feel about ROL, but ROL in full is such an incredible piece of art that it's in my trinity anyway, and of course it has tracks that work great as standalones too.

I'm mad this wasn't released as an official remix or something at least.
I still think that BIM should have been the lead, with Messdonna being the aesthetic for the whole era.
Imagine the video, the Drake incident, and the Fallon performance all in one month.
If you want a little bit of fleeting chart success then yeah sure.
I like Living For Love as the lead and the Ghosttown video is flawless.
But I agree the era has been a bit dull & slow since the leaks and because of the leaks. The hype back in December was great and I'm grateful for all the music this era has brought us (although poor M definitely disagrees).
Things won't really pick up until the tour anyway.
I spent my Sunday looking at Madonna's performances on yt
-I watched a bootleg of the Confessions Tour
-Fan recordings of the Superbowl
-Several Cordoba numbers.
-Express Yourself in several cities.
-4 Minutes.
-Her flop shows (Sweden, somewhere in the UK, etc)
