Freak Show was atleast better than Coven. atleast it was "horror".
if i can get over coven being put on a pedestal, Freak Show isnt a problem.

And you know damn well the awards are a travesty. Even parts that deserved awards (if even that) were snubbed. Jessica, Kathy & Angela getting nominated is more of a formality than something deserved.
|
I agree with you on Angela she didn't deserve **** but Jessica and Kathy deserved to be nominated just for the perfection of their accents.

How on earth did Empire get only one nomination, thank god Taraji got her nomination as that's so deserved! However only one nomination is appalling, that show literally increased in ratings every episode, it was praised heavily by critics and fans, plus the rest of the cast were brilliant in their roles too, it's shocking tbh....

Drama is REALLY competitive + Empire is a network drama.

Emilia snuck in again. Dinklage did NOTHING this season, his nom should've went to Kit.

LOVE Diana, but she won't

Nothing from AHS Freak Show should have been nominated. That season was an all around mess and Jessica, Angela and Kathy did a way more remarkable job playing their Coven characters.

Btw I'm so surprised Netflix is not among the top 5 networks
HBO - 126 Nominations
ABC - 42 Nominations
CBS - 41 Nominations
NBC - 41 Nominations
FX Networks - 38 Nominations
FOX - 35 Nominations
Netflix - 34 Nominations
PBS - 29 Nominations
Comedy Central - 25 Nominations
AMC - 24 Nominations
Showtime - 18 Nominations
Tatiana Maslany has BBC America's sole nomination

I love GoT, but the acting nominations they got is so messy.
YAS. Lena Headey will win since Maggie Smith got snubbed. It's over for the other gals.
Emilia's lazy ass getting nominated doesn't make sense to (maybe they nominated her coz Season 5 slayed) coz her performance was meh. Either way, she's not winning. #TeamCercei
Peter Dinklage doesn't have the episode to win, but Kit Harington does... Ugh. The Emmys might as well crown Jonathan Banks now, coz he has no competition
Diana Rigg won't win. That one scene she had is not enough. Allison Janney's overrated ass will easily snatch
The Academy proving once again to be a racist mess. Empire isn't the most prestigious show on TV, but 3 nods (only 1 major nod) is just shocking. I expected at least two nods for Original Music alone
Lead Actress is Viola vs Taraji. But of course the racist voters HAD to bring in Tatiana this year to prevent a Black Actress from making history. Well played, Emmys.
Kerry Washington not getting nominated the only time when she really deserved to make it
Ugh, I hope the Emmys will drop Julia Louis-Dreyfus next year like they did with Julianna & Jim Parsons
#JusticeForJaneTheVirgin
#justiceForConstanceWu
Anyway, Drama Lead Actress is the only category I'm gonna check for... I'm waiting for the Golden Globes & SAG awards to recognize the greatness that was snubbed

Yes, the only network dramas to debut in the last 10 seasons to get in are Heroes once and Good Wife twice.

It's like the critics only watched 5-10 dramas in order to make these lists

Critics have nothing to do with the Emmys. It's industry professionals honoring each other.
So the acting noms are chosen by actors, the writing noms are chosen by writers, etc.

There aren't many limited or miniseries, so it's natural that a high-profile one that continues to grow each season will nab most of the nominations and awards. And they don't have much competition to begin with.

"Edward Mordrake (Part 1)", "Edward Mordrake (Part 2)", "Blood Bath", "Tupperware Party Massacre", "Orphans" and "Curtain Call" are all good, though. Granted, opinions are subjective, but if you think "Orphans" wasn't a good episode, then .

Jessica deserves all acclaim and awards available for Elsa Mars. I agree with you on so much about AHS, but I don't get your hate toward all things Freak Show. The season was the weakest so far, but there were certainly diamonds in the rough, Jessica's acting and the technical aspects of the show among them.

Well Tatiana is the best actress on television right now, so she deserves to be nominated.

While the argument that it squandered potential can be debunked, I think Ryan knew damn well all eyes were on him and that there were high expectations for the season, especially given the potential it had, and he flubbed it all up. Aside from the top 5 episodes (BB, TPM, Orphans, and the EM episodes), the best-written ones were uneventful (Bullseye & Test of Strength come to mind), and ones that were supposed to be eventful were all anticlimactic and almost pathetic (Show Stoppers and everything about Curtain Call aside from Elsa's story), while Show Stoppers was all-around terrible and easily one of the worst episodes of the entire series.
Aside from poor writing, a lot of acting from people was bad. Frances, Finn & Sarah were the best actors, Jessica was above-average but I don't think she deserved a nom compared to others. Her nomination felt like a formality rather than something deserved.
You're right about the technical aspects, and some diamonds (the top 5 I mentioned), but the errors in (or lack-there-of) plot were inexcusable for someone who came out with things like Asylum and the first 11 episodes of Coven.

Because it was NOT a good accent, and Kathy even said so herself. She mentioned how people were dragging her for it, and she noted she never got a vocal coach like Jessica so she knew it was bad.

Hooray for Game Of Thrones! Rooting for Lena especially, hope she can snag the Best Supporting Actress there.
So happy Tatiana finally got nominated. Congrats to Viola and Taraji too. That's probably the tightest category.
One surprise that I'm LOVING is Rachel Brosnahan being nominated for Best Guest Actress for House Of Cards! I did not see that coming at all!
I'm screaming at all of AHS' noms though. I thought everyone in the world was in agreeance that Freak Show was utter ****. I love Kathy, Jessica, Angela, etc, but none of them deserve noms. They simply weren't given good characters or dialogue to work with.
