Not really, if anything Sinnoh actually expanded on it a bit more. The only thing I believe is different was they took out the "jam" appeal. But Sinnoh added the reward of using a move that fits the contest (using a beauty move in a beauty contest), as well as hindering you for using the opposite of it. So it adds more diversity to your move set. As well as timing when to use a certain move.
The dress up portion was basically just an expansion on the first part of the Hoenn contest where they rate your stats in whatever contest you're doing. But tbh it was kinna messy.
tbh tho they should replace the dance portion with the PR video from X/Y where you have to create a cute mini clip with your Pokemon. That seems more ~contest~ then a dance party.
