I finished a bunch of books lately: Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson Openly Straight by Bill Konigsberg Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo Dead Ends by Erin Lange Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
All of which are good except for the last one. I love Openly Straight and Shadow & Bone so much.
I'm currently reading The Universe Versus Alex Woods. It's quite nice so far, and it reminds me of The Silver Linings Playbook.
So I haven't actually read for my own personal pleasure since I was like 15, but I was kind of a massive book worm back then. I was recently inspired to try a new book after reading some articles on the death of the author James Salter.
As some background on him for those who have never heard of him, he's basically considered by other writers and by critics to be one of the most criminally underrated authors of all time. He's been variously called "a writer's writer," the "most underrated underrated author," and such - he's had excellent critical reception and reviews and praise from other authors, but to my knowledge only his final book made it to the NYT Bestsellers list, and only for a week.
Anyway, the novel of his that most intrigued me was Light Years; it's about a marriage falling apart, for lack of a better description. I don't want to try to summarize it myself.
I'm only a little ways in, but I love it so far! The writing style is so vivid and dynamic and shifts from person to person. I don't know how to explain it well, but I so strongly recommend it. I thought with all the seemingly pretentious titles ascribed to the man that it would be underwhelming, but it's great so far.

Not sure if I posted in this thread, but I love to read. It keeps me inspired to keep writing, and helps me improve on my awful grammar and spelling.
Just finished re-reading Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park. (Jurassic World made me want to re-read it.) I forgot how gory and violent the books were compared to the movies. But its still great.
Also Stephen King's Finders Keepers was amazing. I enjoyed it better than Mr. Mercedes.

after i'm done, i will read the shack again, i was a completely different person when i read before
I'm like, WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS? But it's still perfect.
