tbh i don't think the album was scrapped. i don't think she never had a clear goal/direction, hence the fact that she recorded songs with a million people starting back in 2012. by the time she knew what she wanted she 1) was running low on time 2) had to re-work the album so it fit her vision 3) was dealing with kanye and the idea of a joint tour
she's also doing a million things between her charity, puma, and fashion stuff. basically it was a giant domino effect and everything's a mess now
inb4 someone screenshots this for IG and i get a personal rihply that i can cherish forever
But everything points to the fact that the album was actually ready and they had plans for everything back when FFS was released
The videos recorded in advance, the promo was all lined up, they couldn't have been like 'yeah after AO lets take a 6 month break yeah that'll really trigger the GP'
I really think she's afraid she might flop big time. I miss my carefree Pop star fave that released music because she liked it and not because she had to live up to some "ICON" title or to try and outdo Beyonce. I want POP Rihanna back not this girl That only sings about smoking weed, drugs and alcohol. I can't relate.

She's in way better position now than when she released Rated R, I don't see why she would be afraid now
And she's actually releasing music that she can relate to, isn't what an "artist" is about ?
We had a glimpse of her vision with the AO2 video and she proved it once again with BBHMM
She's doing her own art, the vision of her life at the moment and it's real, it's 100% HER
It's not some Def Jam puppy pop stuff anymore
She's not trying to live up to anything
You don't know your fave if you think that
She just doesn't give a **** about ANYONE now that she has her own label, she will release when she wants to, when she's proud of it
She's in her own egotistical world, giving no **** about anyone
It's infuriating for us stan but we knew what we were getting into
I'm pretty sure she wasn't proud of any of her 7 previous albums but she had to release them, she didn't have a choice, everytime she had a deadline and was just happy/thankful to do her passion.

when? surely not this era?
idk maybe you have more tea than me since she talks to you personally. but this is kind of low coming from you of all people...

I never said she wasn't doing what she loved to do. I just said she might be afraid her fan and critics and the GP might not accept her vision the way she wants it to. I mean look at what happened with American Oxygen. Everyone paid it dust and you can tell that Rihanna put a lot of thought into that song and video.
It's nice when you do your own thing but its also comforting to know that others really like your work and is willingly ready to support it. She's not just an artist she's a brand. Millions of people are waiting for this album so of course she will feel pressured. Living in an egotistical world isn't even a good thing either. If I were you Id watch what I say.

You want "that" Rihanna back, but Rihanna has made it very clear that 's 1) Not her 2) she moved on from that sound and doesn't want to release that kind of music.
I mean you're basically upset Rihanna isn't doing what you want her to do.
You guys can't honestly expect her to make the same type of song over and over. How many WFL, Only Girls, You Da One, etc can she make. Is it really wrong of her for wanting to try new things.
idk maybe you have more tea than me since she talks to you personally. but this is kind of low coming from you of all people...
No. When I said weed, drinks and alcohol Im referring to BBHMM, FFS and James Joint. I thought that the stans would be smart enough to decipher my statement. Anyways, No tea, no shade. Im not throwing in my stan card or anything Im just upset at the direction (or lack thereof) she's headed in. I thought with a 2 year break the era would be organized, she'd have a vision and just come with a clean and practical release. We mid July and nothing to show for it. Not even a title, an album cover or a release date. And the songs that she's releasing don't even feel like they belong on the same album. Its like we're getting a different persona every time she releases something else which begs to me question if she's just winging it and still trying to see what works. Either way.. I said too much.

When I say POP Rihanna. (I Capitalized POP) for a reason, I didn't mean for her to release a GGGB or Loud remake. But for her to ACT like a Pop star. You have an album to promote, records to release, things to plan. She's being very lackadaisical. As someone that used to be very hungry and excited about their new material and just ready to show it to the world this new approach is just not cutting it for me. Back in the Unapologetic era when she was recording and releasing songs you could see that she was really in love with her music, her fans and her career. Now it doesn't come off that way anymore and thats what I meant by I Miss POP rihanna. When she was thinking and acting like a Pop star. I really admire her side projects and hustle, but lets be honest out of all 7 eras this one has got to be the worst one from an objective standpoint. IDC if were excited she's on her own label. Big whoop. The fact of the matter is .. we still here.
Ehh, but you gotta consider the fact that we are only hearing a piece of an entire project. So yeah by themselves they might seem to clash but who knows how the will all flow together. If anything 4FS is the odd ball out to me.
For instance Partition and Pretty Hurts. Different lyrical content, genre and still worked well on the same project.

Well Beyonce dropped her entire album at once so she made it that way for us to watch/listen from start to finish kinda like a movie.
No. When I said weed, drinks and alcohol Im referring to BBHMM, FFS and James Joint. I thought that the stans would be smart enough to decipher my statement. Anyways, No tea, no shade. James Joint is the only song about a substance. So idk, I'm confused by that statement and basically everything you said in the original post.
I understand being disappointed about how things panned out because I think most of us feel that way to some degree. But the other things you initially said were weird tbh and more like assumptions/guesses. Given your level of access I guess it could be tea? If so, what kind of accidental exposure? If not, it's still kind of weird to me that you would say those things as a fan and as someone who has actually talked to her. A bit disrespectful to resort to typical stan fanfare rather than how you actually feel. If you feel like the singles are disjointed and we don't have enough information, just say that. That's how half the navy feels it's not like you would be alone
eta: I just read your response to Bajan. Idk why you didn't just say that. Again, plenty of people feel that way so no need to be shady with it

Of course it's not good but we can't change our fave, she is what she is ...
And honestly if egotistical means not listening/following others and risk creating original stuff that may pay off big time in the end?
I'm down to it
