I think it's a cultural thing with Africans. I will tell you that most Africans who have visited Brazil feel more connected to the black people there because they maintained some level of African culture as opposed to many African Americans who adapted a culture of their own.

The cut off points between spectrums for the relevant phenotypes are arbitrary, blurry, and very ill defined. There's absolutely nothing concrete about it. Here you have a Scandinavian child, and here you have an Italian child. Clearly they have differing phenotypes, but our society groups them all in as White. Meanwhile, our society sees these Chinese people as one race, but the Chinese view those three as three distinct races. How do you not understand how the concept of race is arbitrary?
Different butterflies are different species and therefore do not (generally) cross-breed. Gorillas are also a different species from humans. So none of that mess bares any relevance.

Again you are missing the point. The Chinese can view them as whatever they want, and the end of the day they are the same race because they share a common ancestor. There are ill-defined lines for race because people mix and reproduce together in the modern era, but we have different racial ancestors. I'm sure if black people stopped reproducing with whites, we'd eventually evolve into different species. That's how it works.

In America, Obama is seen as Black. While people acknowledge mixed people, mixed is barely considered a racial category and most of the times you're lumped in with one racial group or the other unless the dissonance is too strong. He will continue to be referred to as our "First Black President."
Meanwhile in other places, mixed people ARE their own distinct racial group just like Whites and Blacks and they don't get lumped in with other races.

He is seen as mixed, you can ask anyone. People will say he is half black half white, even if people just say Black. Drake is seen as "black" but everyone knows he is mixed.

According to how the U.S. defines race, both are black

Obama is seen as mixed, and it doesn't really matter what people call him, he is half-black half-white end of story. If I ask someone if Obama is white, the will say yes, half black half white.
