Yes, it will be her year. She'll have a huge first tour leg and a critically acclaimed album (most likely) and also be honoured at the BET awards. It wouldn't surprise me if she had a moderate to successful comeback, honestly. She may not be someone that the GP have regularly missed from the music scene to the point of conciously thinking 'where is Janet?', but now she's back I think everyone will realise how different it was without her for so long.
I think ATRL is gonna be so disappointed in how Janet's music commercially performs when released. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Unless the music is top-notch, and the critical hype pulls people in - and the music is really all that matters, or is going to be remembered. She's someone who doesn't have a lot to prove, and I hope she knows that and she releases something truly worth waiting for. The charts don't matter.

It's interesting to see people acting like she's already bombing. The tour seems to be easily outperforming her last two, No Sleeep is doing well in its R&B/AC lane, she has done no promotion for her 'comeback' outside of social media so far, and all signs point to a much better album than her last two.
It would be one thing if she and her team were pushing some hype machine style comeback. But so far, it's been incredibly low-key. The song and tour have carried themselves nicely. I expect the album to follow the pattern, especially if it gets good reviews. I don't think any Janet stans expected her to come back with a huge smash at 49 after 13+ years without a big hit single.
No. This comeback seems very just for the fans which is fine at the point she's at in her career but I thought it was going to be a full blown commercial comeback before it actually started.
