Welcome castaways to Round 7 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (Season 5)! The MC for the Tribe Mix-Up is still going on but that is okay as the new tribe announcement will fill up space between this round post and results.
The theme for Round 7 is...
The Symbol of Water ~A new day has come~
This round is a bit different than former rounds. I earlier said that the graphics beyond this season were inspired by water, so I thought we would take a look into water as an archetypal symbol. This round, your song selection should fit into the definition of water as a symbol. There are different qualities to the symbol of water that your song can take inspiration from. Below is the definition of the archetype water:
Your song selection this round should take on at least one of these qualities whether it's birth, purification, fertility, growth, etc. There's also an atmosphere to water sonically that should be present in your song. Your instrumental should in a way flow like water so hard rock songs or club tracks probably aren't in the mold of this round.
What To Do:
As always. PM the artist and title of the song you are submitting. No explanation included.
16 of you remain in the game so back-up choices are more trivial at this point. For the two of you on Redemption Island, you will be allowed to submit a song for the duel once the 16 others have submitted. I'll let you know when that is.
Take Into Consideration:
The panel will judge the audio/lyrics of the track you submit. Music videos will not increase or decrease your score as some music video plots differ from a song's true meaning.
The theme is what is important here. You will not receive a low score because you sent in a song one of the judges does not like. Taste will most likely only be the determinate in whether you receive for example a 8.5 or 9.
The song you choose should display the meaning upfront. An interview with your artist clarifying the meaning of the song will not be taken into consideration.
Judging Scale (May Vary By Judge):
9/10 - Great entry. Track displays the theme given head on.
8 - Good entry. Displays theme well but not as well as others.
7 - Okay entry. Fits decently but is missing something overall.
6 - Somewhat tackles the theme but falls flat.
5 - Track mentions theme but is otherwise off-base.
3/4 - Song does not hit the theme given.
1/2 - Song has to do with a completely different subject than the theme.
The example for this round is "A New Day Has Come" by Celine Dion off her ninth English album 'A New Day Has Come'. Lyrically, the track discusses Celine talking about how while the world may have thought she had it all going for her, she was struggling with personal issues at the time and the birth of her son helped her find strength to live again. The song contains the elements of birth and rebirth as Celine's son helps bring about a new reason to live for.
The deadline for this round is June 17th at 2:45 PM PST Timezone.
