Alluka is biologically male, but identifies as female. My respect and admiration for Killua went through the roof after seeing him being pretty much the only Zoldyck member who treated his sister like a human being. Killua's an amazing character, and I'm so so glad he didn't turn out to be Sasuke 2.0 (which I was expecting to happen when he was first introduced).
I'm also pretty sure Kalluto (the child wearing the kimono who becomes one of the new members of the Phantom Troupe) is male too. Dunno if he/she prefers being referred to as female though.
But yes the Chimera arc was too drawn out. This new arc looks good 
and yeah MAL is usually pretty on point
