Easier said than done, and I'm not sure if there is any real sound reasoning behind this idea. But if you think about it, national identity is something everyone has, America is preventing you from claiming them so you are at a disadvantage. If your identity is rooted in slavery, will you ever actually climb from the bottom of the ladder as a people? Idk

See, the reddened is completely FALSE!
African-American IS my national identity.
African-American IS my heritage.
African-Americans are people of African descent... ...from AMERICA!
And uuuuhh @ the last part. Afro-Jamaican history begins with slavery. Afro-Trinidadian history begins with slavery. What's the difference with us? Slavery was of course Top 5 sickest atrocities in history so DO NOT misconstrue me as diminishing its horrors. But the fact that our
American cultural heritage and history, which is the culture we own NOW, began in slavery does not make us any less brilliant, capable, beautiful, etc. They held us down, but we got up. We been beautiful. Before it. THROUGH it. and after it too.
