Reminds me of the time when "Boom Clap" by Charli was #7 or something, like the hell? That song is as pure pop as pure pop can be. Nothing remotely urban about it.
It started out them playing any kind of rap song (i.e. Australian hip hop like Hilltop Hoods and 360, party rap like Pitbull and Flo Rida) as well as anyone who was remotely black or not obviously white (any Bruno Mars, Rihanna or Jason Derulo song was game even when 90% of their songs are not urban).
But now it seems like just collaborating with an "urban" artist makes you urban by association. So Boom Clap was "urban" because she collabed with Iggy on Fancy, and Jessie J/Flashlight is "urban" because she collaborated with Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz. A damn mess.
