I thought Thinking Out Loud would reach 5 million this summer, since it reached 4 million while it was still in the Top 10. But TOL has really dropped off the last three weeks, so it will take a lot longer than I had thought. It was behind Shake it Off in its total, but I thought with TOL's momentum it would beat SIO to 5 million. Now it appears the two songs will get there around the same time, which will be later in the year. With Blank Space having just passed 4 million and already selling at a slower rate than SIO, I'm not sure if BS will reach 5 million or not. If it happens, I think BS would have to wait until 2016.

Lyrically the song has a great chance at both awards, as does 1989 as AOTY. I'm just wondering if "Uptown Funk" being so huge will sway the voters' minds about who wins the awards. UF has had to add a few extra songwriters along the way. While that's better than being in the middle of a lawsuit during the Grammy's, it could still affect UF's chances.

The next awards shows I can think of are the Much Music Awards and the MTV Video Awards. I think the American Music Awards also airs between now and the Grammy's. All three of these shows, especially the last two, should give BS, UF, or both a boost in sales and streaming.

Blank Space doesn't have a zero chance of winning ROTY. It'll almost certainly finish in the Top 10 for 2015, if not the Top 5. I think SIO was released just prior to the cutoff last year, so Swift wouldn't be competing with herself. TMTC was out way before the cutoff, so it's not a factor (I think it won an award at the 2015 Grammys anyway). BS may have a better chance at SOTY, but in no way would I count her out for ROTY. Right now I would think BS, TOL, UF, and SYA are the four songs most likely to be nominated for ROTY. Of course there are still three months or so left before the cutoff for 2016, so this Cheerleader song everyone's talking about could be up there too,
