I Really Like You has taken off in a lot of countries - two of them are included in the world's biggest music markets (UK and Japan). I think it's fair to say she's no longer a one hit wonder. Yes, she isn't getting smash hit #1s but she's doing a lot better than expected.

If you're going to make the case that she's not a one-hit wonder, at least use the song that went 2x platinum, hit #4 on pop radio, and reached #8 on the Hot 100.

Lets be honest, people don't even know who she is. It's one of those rare cases where a song overshadows its singer. She is the definition of a one hit wonder.

People only remember and used to listen to CMM in this part of the world, and nobody remember her as an artist for doing other things, she is still remembered for that song and nothing else, so yeah she is still a one hit wonder :/

She is definitely most known for CMM because it was such a huge smash, but she has had other hit songs and I can only speak for my country but she is definitely 'known' and has a few hits. It's a stretch to say she is only known for that one song rather than most known for it.

Anyway, her new album is shaping up to be the best pop album in ages and from the sounds of the live songs she performed, she'll have a couple more hits yet on top of CMM, Good Time and IRLY. There's a difference between having one massive smash and being a one hit wonder.

Technically speaking, she is not a one hit wonder since she has had three singles reach the top 40. However some singers have had more than one top 40 singles and are still thought of as one hit wonders. Apparently Vanilla Ice had more than one hit and yet....

The argument for her being classified as a one-hit wonder has less to do with her chart success and more to do with her impact (a.k.a. what the public thinks about when they think of her). I think Brando just made a good point:

I agree that many people would not be able to name another song by Carly Rae Jepsen besides CMM. Although Good Time was plenty big enough to be considered a hit, it's not remembered whatsoever. The debate hinges upon whether you think that artists who score quick follow-up hits with minimal legacy should still be considered one-hit wonders.

Vanilla's second hit was local while Good Time was huge in Europe, Asia etc Same applies to I Really Like You despite not being nearly big as Good Time or Call Me Maybe but them it still a hit but I shouldn't be surprised considering most here are blind and think that United States is the only relevant music market in the world.

And no she isn't a one hit wonder it doesn't matter if her other songs are forgotteen, a one hit wonder is an artist with one hit, not a artist with one memorable song, there is tons of artists with multiple hits out there but barely any of their songs are actually remembered either. Does this means they didn't had hits in the past? No.

The girl has 11M followers on Twitter, 13M followers on Facebook, 2M subscribers on Youtube. She is most definitely known outside of Call Me Maybe. The only song a large audience will know may be CMM but, people still know who Carly Rae Jepsen is even if it is "Justin Bieber's friend" or simply just "a popstar".

Outside of that IRLY and Good Time are massive WW hits to her name. She is most definitely not a 1 hit wonder in any way, shape or form. She for sure has a sustainable career, which is all she needs.
