Critics are generally experts in terms of judging the quality of music so if they thought an album was better than another one it's probably true tbh.While I agree with you that sometimes we might personally disagree with the critics that doesn't change which one is more critically acclaimed.
However there's no shame in listening to music that's not acclaimed tbh. Like I can't really get into most of those acclaimed soul singers at all, they make good music but it's just not my taste tbh. So I can understand if taylor isn't yours, but it doesn't change the fact that she's acclaimed.
