All Too Well has some wonderfully descriptive lines ("dancing round the kitchen in the elevator light") and she holds the story together well, but the last verse is kind of pedestrian ("the one real thing you've ever known") and descends into melodramatic diary entry.

Yes, you clearly don't. I'm talking about REVERED songs. Songs that are considered universally GOOD, by critics, by the general population. There are plenty of popular classics, take My Heart Will Go On for example, which the vast majority of people think is bad and pure fluff. Love Story is like that. It's not a highly respected and acclaimed track. You can't play it anywhere and get everyone to like it, there's a lot of people who will balk it at because it is kind of basic, let's be real.

What I'm saying is that despite all her songwriting talent, all her remembered songs are very simple, basic pop songs.
