I heard Rihanna's songs all the time but it wasn't until around Rehab that I kinda started paying attention to her, then Once I saw her interview with Diane Sawyer she had me hooked.
I'm listening to MOTS right now and she's changed so much. I watched the GGGB tour DVD and remembering why I liked her in the first place.
Her spunk, she has a distinct voice, and I love that she's gradually improved her voice. Her attitude towards life is what has empowered me over the years. I don't look up to her but I aspire to be as carefree as her, she's cool without trying and yet she's so relateable and hardworking I just love her.
My first experience was her video Pon De Replay when she first came out.
I thought this was pretty good and kept my eye on her my previous pop girls I liked were all older like Madonna,mariah etc.
She was the first one around my age I was a fan of.
I really like PDR but I wasn't a fan at the time. It was umbrella that got me hooked!! The video...the imagery, the hair cut and the song all together just reeled me in. I didn't become a STAN until the Rated R era tho. I felt her attitude and personality in that era and that's when she became a fashion icon. The music was flawless and the imagery was STUNNING....I've loved her more and more with each era

I didn't even think it was Rihanna when I saw the video. I remember not liking that she cut her hair sideways ( ). And I got into pop that year and didn't like how urban it sounded.
But then Shut Up and Drive came out and slayed me so I got over it.

I remember when I first watched the Umbrella video I thought Rih had some training in comtemporary dance or ballet....her dance moves were much more varied back then lol
I LIVE for Cockiness every now and then especially when the remix randomly comes up in my music library and it goes "Tell RiRi I go re-retarded". That's the part I always star to sing along.. including the brrrrrrrr
