I'm so ashamed but... My first EVER memory of Rihanna was seeing the SOS video play on VH1 and assumed it was Beyoncé then Umbrella came along and I learned it was RIHANNA.
I remember hearing PDR on Radio Disney a lot and then I saw her perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in 2005 I remember being completely surprised by how she looked. I was expecting someone much older. Queen of youth
Then at Christmas my cousins were debating whether or not she'd be a one hit wonder. My fat cousin randomly said "Hell yes she will be with that big ass forehead."
I remember watching the SOS music video and thinking she looked so perfect with her shimmery golden skin
And her boobs looked nice too
Not to mention Umbrella being a moment, I wasn't even into pop culture and I remember watching the video and being like her style change up was iconic and people were talking about it at school.
As for the AGLM era, I remember hearing SOS and seeing how pretty she looked in the video. I heard that, Unfaithful and Break It Off on the radio ALL the time during that whole summer. Every time Unfaithful came on, kids would start singing it. Glorious, tbh.
I also remember her making a cameo on All My Children that no one ever mentions.
