All the political parties here, including the Prime Minister himself, have come out in support. However that can also be a bad thing, because there's people here who seem to just vote against everything the government supports.

They seem to be conflating a campaign for equal rights with the government's poor handling of the economic situation.

Well ours was a ban. The ban passed 52-48% and the country was saying Not liberal California! Turns out the Mormon Church in Utah sent millions to California Catholic Churches to make sure the state would ban gay marriage and a lot of pro-gay marriage people got complacent and didn't vote because they thought they had it in the bag. We only got gay marriage back in 2013 That's why every vote counts.

We're definitely heading in the right direction, but there's still a lot of ignorant people living amongst us, particularly in the West and the midlands.

The vote will probably be incredibly close, but all we can do is hope that the Yes side edges it. I mean the divorce referendum in 1994 won by 1%, but it didn't matter because it was still instated as the law!

I get you. I definitely am shocked by the amount of religion that's still here. I thought it was a lot less these days, but it's still a lot less than what it was 10 or even 20 years ago. So we're getting there.

1994 Ireland was VASTLY different to 2015 Ireland. We are progressive. Don't worry. Watch this speech by Mary McAleese and cry, lol!

Another problem California had was that the pro-gay marriage ads didn't put as much emphasis on the people affected. No real face was put to the movement. Ireland studied California's campaign and learned from that and so all their touching videos are top notch
