Anecdotal evidence is rarely reliable. That's why you are surprised it's doing so well on the charts. It should be pretty apparent now that the people you know is not a proper sample size for all of Canada.

Again, those people must not be in line with the Candian general public, or it would not be charting as well there.
For example--I don't like a single song that Taylor Swift has released. I don't like her sound, I don't like the lyrics, etc... I don't have a single friend, family member, or coworker that likes Taylor either. Most actually can't stand her. Does that stop her from dominating the charts in the US?
