Maroon 5 is coming for that #1. Their consistency is too much despite their music continuously decreasing in quality.
They've carved a nice place for themselves with the GP and radio. There's no other commercial band they could compete with, bar like Ryan Republic. But their songs take 15 years to take off.
I like the new songs. It's Foster-lite except with generic lyrics.

I kind of feel the same way. Maroon 5 started off as an Alternative Rock band, but soon became just a Pop band. I applaud them for playing their instruments, but not for leaving their original format. That may have been decided by the label and not the band though.
I love pop Maroon 5, but my problem with them is that they're getting lazy with their originality and songwriting. I need them to keep up their quality, and TSGH isn't doing it for me.
V in general is a meh era at best. The only song on the album that floored me was IWAY.
Their Top 5 this decade is 1) MLJ, 2) Give a Little More, 3) IWAY, 4) OMN, 5) Wipe Your Eyes.
I only liked Sugar and Love Somebody from their last two eras. Payphone and Daylight aren't really bad just so mediocre...this new song sounds annoying.
And how could I forget? If Sugar isn't worthy of being #1, Trap Queen certainly isn't. However, I forgot to include American Oxygen in the songs worthy of taking #1 over from UF. I did not intend to slight the Rihanna fans, as that song is worthy as well!
