It was so much more iconic and cohesive. BNE fell flat in a lot of places.

BNE has Ignorance, BBBB, Misguided Ghosts, The Only Exception, and Careful though
They're all so close though. Ain't It Fun is still the best song of the decade.

You sound a little bit perturbed, nitpicking at who's in my sig and when as if it actually has anything to do with this.
I don't think you're right at all; songwriting for radio has an entirely different purpose than "artistic" songwriting from the very start.

Both of those songs are on OOTB, one of the most panned albums of all time. Also well known.

Melodies are composed along with the harmonies, which is separate from lyrics which is songwriting. The only backtracking and weird steps here is coming from you, lol.
OOTB wasn't panned because of those tracks though, but were the highlight of the majority of the reviews. Use your head a bit Collin, I know you can.

Can somebody enlighten me on what, if anything, is so great about Katy's sophomore album?
I mean, the one-two punch of For a Pessimist and That's What You Get to kick off the album alone >>>

Yes, yes it does. And I admit the "real artist" thing was dumb.
Songwriting consists of a lot of things and melodies and harmonies make up a song, lolol. They're different but they go together. People get songwriting credits for coming up with melodies and harmonies. Don't choose now to get all specific.
I like Waking Up In Vegas so let me just go ahead and drop that one.

People who are credited as songwriters are responsible for writing the lyrics, vocal melodies, and other stuff like chord progressions. The production of the song is only concerned with how the recording sounds.

Lol, what you are describing is the process in German speaking countries, in English speaking countries, composing belongs to songwriting.

You're right and I admit it was poor word choice and you can stan for whoever. Just don't fully understand why writing music for radio deserves the same as someone who writes music for, you know, the music - but let's move on

Of course they overlap, but they aren't exclusively tied to one another either. Many many songwriters have no sense of a melody yet they write lyrics all day long.
I'm still waiting for you to point out where I said Katy was a great songwriter and better than Kesha. Or are you going to admit to jumping the gun on that one too?

Um, I'm quite aware.
My point wasn't centered around credits but the actual process of.

Do you mean Adele's voice, right? Because Adele is genuinely one of the funniest "popstars" ever Her and Paloma Faith have such charming ways about them

You heavily implied it, miss. Everyone else takes "Kesha doesn't have an ear for a melody" as coming for her songwriting skills.
But if you're saying otherwise, then hey - looks like we've got nothing to argue about

I'm not a miss and I did say otherwise you're just twisting what I said around, intentionally or not.

Considering multiple people jumped at what you said, I'd think it's safe to say I wasn't out of line for assuming what I had assumed. I know you're not a miss.

I never said you were out of line for assuming, I'm just making sure you understand you assumed incorrectly.
Then don't call me that?
