What honestly are you talking about?
First, they log the dailies which basically means the director sits with the editor and they go through all the footage they've taken and all the notes the director's given to their cinematographer. Then, the editor sorts the footage to present the first assembly to the director & the producer, but I'm guessing that because this is a music video their editor will have worked on the rushes as they came in and roughly put together each scene as it comes in. Then, they either work together with the director towards the rough cut or they work alone and at the end of each day show their work to their director or producer. On features they'll work up a first, fine and final cut but this is a <3minute music video so let's be realistic, they probably won't need as many cuts.
A director's job isn't JUST to direct the "talent" they're filming, it's also to direct the technical aspects of a shoot and the editing. They've been appointed by the producer to make sure everything is running on time and to schedule. Iggy doesn't even know when her release date is.
...but you seem to know so much more about this than little old me. My guess is that you don't know more about how directors work with editors than Richard Linklater, Mike Leigh, Bennett Miller and Morten Tyldum (to name but a few) who have all gone on record about how involved they have to be in the cutting room.
