Of course it's not going to have blockbuster pop sales, it's a hardcore gangsta rap album. It However did exceptionally well for the genre, had two top ten singles and song debut at #2 charts which was something MJ/Mariah level pop acts were doing. He also had a large media presence. the Life After Death album was set to be a blockbuster dead or alive.

Point is - biggest rivalries can be measured by different metrics. What may be substantial in one community/for fans of one genre or era may not be (as) relevant to others. The fact that two rappers died is unfortunate, but extremely extramusical - one side of the coin.

Tupac was in jail when his album topped the charts and was facing sex crimes backlash. His album still outsold Biggie's and the next year he came back with a global, Diamond album.

They don't. Tupac has bigger catalog sales than Christina, though. Me Against the World sells about 500 copies a week on average.
