As a Shakira fan, who has always followed her path, I've read from multiple source that 'Donde Estan Los Ladrones' sold over 5 million copies, that her Unplugged and her Grandes Exitos sold way more than 1 million copies. That 'Oral Fixation' sold more than 5M and that Sale El Sol sold over 3,5M copies.

People underestimate her latin market and forget that she is able to sell as much as a major artist sells in the US with that specific market. I am pretty sure not every country was counted here, I don't even know their sources.

That's because those are shipments. Mediatraffic is releasing estimates for her actual sales.

The sources you read are most likely unreliable. There are sources saying ...BOMT sold more than 30 million copies, that Prism sold more than 6 million copies. There even was a source claiming Rihanna sold 54 million albums. Many publishers often confuse album sales with singles sales.

MediaTraffic relies on estimates but these estimates include Shakira's biggest markets (Colombia is included too). I'm not saying that these numbers are correct but after all, they estimate it the same way for every artist which is fair enough.

Her english album sales seem kinda accurate although slightly deflated, her spanish album sales on the other hand are a mess specially PD and DELL, the former which sold like 3 million in 3 countries alone and the latter which was always considering a bigger success yet according to this it sold less They should stick to estimations for the anglosphere only 'cause this is way off.

He has no authority, a lot of his receipts are just other users on forums like the guy who made fanofmusic which also has different sales estimates.
