Well no ****ing duh, that's pretty obvious. She had post-TD era success and hype to help that song sell. Her latest two singles didn't reach Top 10. There's no hype for new Katy music (just yet), and it will be too late to capitalise on any Dark Horse/Super Bowl hype there may have been at the beginning of 2015 by the time she finished her tour and gets ready to begin the album cycle again.

At best, she'll spend more weeks at #1 than Roar in the US, but it won't be as big. Roar only being #1 for 2 weeks because of Royals doesn't really show how big it was.

if katy makes the same fluff she's served for her last two albums she won't last long. those kinds of songs don't succeed as easily any more. prism era struggling with 60% of its singles demonstrates that easily

That's not really comparing apples with apples though.

Monsters have a track record of being biased, delusional and blind when it comes to their fave. Everyone who wasn't a Monster saw the downfall coming, granted nobody could have guessed just how colossal it would become.

Katy isn't like that. Her next album will have radio songs on it. She'll probably try something different but there's no way she won't have some safe tracks in case things start looking poor for her. She'll be able to grab at least one #1. My money's on three, though. I think it will be a step up from PRISM both in terms of singles and albums (she won't have a specific single as big as Roar or DH tho).

Nobody was expecting the ARTPOP era to be what it was (like NONE of us was expecting what we got: musically, theme, image, message, etc).

We could have never expected this tbh in the sense of what we got at the beginning from the era.

We were all expecting a fun waterdown "Warhol" kinda image era with catchy pop songs. Not this mess of a "creative rebellion" era with Gaga looking ugly all the time and releasing songs like J&D and Swine.
