Gaga says a lot of things. That was back when she was relatively new. She did say she had to fight for it, but ultimately Britney didn't want the song anyway, and I'm sure they saw it as a great opportunity for her to use it. I don't think the "fear of suffocation" thing bothers me. It definitely does FIT with The Fame Monsters overall theme, so even if it was tacked on afterwards I don't see an issue with that, it's just that it's clear that she didn't have as much control as we were lead to believe. She really had to fight for things.
