She meant that the immense potential and importance of sound is ignored and neglected by most of the museum world. It's not an insult or diss at all, but I understand why some people might take offense.
Björk is not racist though, as someone said she has dated a black man and has said that she loves her fans regardless of sexual orientation and ethnicity. She shouldn't have cited that song as that word is very offensive but she is not racist.
She's not American. The word means something different to her? Everyone seems to want to make this about themselves, IDGI, she clearly is not targeting black people.
I'm not from the US and no the word means the same thing everywhere lol perhaps not as it does in the US due to slavery, but Black people ARE opressed everywhere and referred to like that
