My thoughts? No. What exactly is the point? Especially since these artists aren't getting properly compensated for them. I mean, I know the digital age is trying to keep up and adjust with the changing times, but unless you actually buy an album it shouldn't be counted as a sale because technically you're not purchasing a stream. Especially if you stream for free. I would like to hear opposing and similar thoughts.

I agree. Although streaming is the way forward for the industry, I feel like the charts companies are trying to implement it too soon and have ended up overemphasising it

I think there should be separate charts, so basically one that counts streams and one that doesn't. Streams should not count towards sales, i.e. certifications and stuff, though.

I hate it. I think it devalues what little album sales are left. Look at Madonna. By all rights her album should have gone #1.

What is it again? 10 streams from an album track equals one sale? Most albums have more than 10 tracks. Like if you stream one song 10 times does that count for the whole album? That's what isn't fair.

The biggest effect from streaming has been 10-12k Yall overreact with this when it hasn't made any kind of major effect on the charts.

It should count because charts are made to reflect popularity, and if an album is getting +10m streams weekly it means it's popular.

Whatever the effect is, it's pointless. My whole thing is not matter how many times something is streamed, it shouldn't equate to a sale because technically it's not. It's telling a lot about the state of the industry and consumers when you can stream an album over a dozen times and still not feel propelled to by it.

Oh, 1500 streams to 1 album sale? I still don't think that's fair because are they tracking a combined stream total of each track? Having a hit song on the streaming chart making an album chart higher on the album sales chart is just asinine. Same for sales. The popularity of one album/single track shouldn't bolster how the album places on chart for album sales. It makes things complicated and less authentic. They should have kept the Billboard Hot 200 separate from what comes from streaming.
