Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, was pronounced dead in her apartment tonight after authorities were called to the scene by her fiancé, Taylor Kinney. Germanotta was supposed to meet with Kinney earlier in the day for a dinner. Kinney reported that they were to plan their now-cancelled wedding.
"I am in shock right now, everyone that knew her is absolutely devastated," Kinney wrote. "It is a terrible loss that goes beyond words. She is one of the most important and legendary people to have blessed this planet, and I'm in a state of shock that she's gone. A true genius. It's impossible to explain how much she will be missed and what a hole this will leave in all of our hearts. Please keep her family in your thoughts and respect their privacy during this hard time."
Germanotta began her Billboard career in late 2008 with her début single, "Just Dance" featuring Colby O Donnis. She has had multiple #1 singles and albums since, and has become one of the highest selling artists of the digital era."
