Spotify is better, at least they reduced illegal downloads, just to offer a free platform to listen to music, and what you want to do with this app is an aberration, with the simple fact earn more money , nobody buys
In the grand scheme of things, streaming services like Spotify have spoiled consumers (myself included) and I believe it'll only get worse unless some type of initiative is taken. I'm kind of in the middle ground in this whole situation; I'm a college student paying $5 a month for Spotify Premium which is heaven but I do see what Jay is trying to accomplish with his service.
Most of you are so stuck with the idea that this whole Tidal thing is about a few billionaire artists. Look at the whole picture - the decline in sales, money and quality of music. They aren't just looking out for themselves (they all have enough money to quit at this very second), but fixing a mistake mistake Spotify made with percentage deals which affects the whole industry.
For the consumer Spotify is a great deal. But for artists? It's laughable.
This is not about Madonna getting paid. India Shawn, James Fauntleroy, Flying Lotus, MNEK etc. wanna get paid adequately too.
