It has the longest time #1 on the digital charts, was the #1 selling digital track of 2004, and broke the digital record four times (8.5K Nov 2003 becoming the first time where digital #1 outsold physical #1, and then 9.5k following week, breaking the record again next week with 13.5K in December, then a final time with 16K following the gift card rush week) so it sold great for it's time though.

I was wrong. I'm sorry I was thinking of "Crazy In Love", the first #1 Digital Track I guess. It topped the first chart with only 1,500 copies. Billboard apparently discontinued that chart at the end of the last chart year, so we no longer have it to see where the various versions of the songs finished in the weeks Top 50. It's been stuck on the last week of November forever,

Digital downloads were separate, UNLESS the song was one of the few hits on the Hot 100 with a physical counterpart. Since "Yeah" had a 12" vinyl release, Billboard added the points from I-Tunes to the points from the 12" single. I'm almost certain the same was done for "Hey Ya", since it was half of a double-sided physical single with "The Way You Move". I remember at the time wondering why Billboard couldn't just go ahead and give all of the songs I-Tunes credit, with or without a physical counterpart, but that didn't happen until February 2005. I don't know if there is a link I could find now or not regarding this, because I know those magazines from 2004 went to the garbage a decade ago.

"Yeah" went on to be certified Triple Platinum for sales of three million. I don't know if "Hey Ya" made it past Platinum, but I would think it did. "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" was the first Country song to sell a million downloads, and it's Double Platinum now.

Hey ya would have been #1 for 2 more weeks for a total of 11 weeks (blocking "The way you move" and "Slow Jamz" but Yeah! would have been still #1 the week after with that huge airplay plus some digital sales.
