Remember that time during the mid-era blackout when she started posting pics about the ARTPOP film planning and the spring awakening when we were discussing what the next single was going to be and the general concensus was either G.U.Y., Venus or Gypsy? One day some radio host told a fan via twitter that she hadn't decided yet and that she sent MANiCURE to some stations and people started the MELTDOWNS as in "****ing manicure? BYE gaga", "NO1CURR then", "we waited for THIS?"?
Ooh yay, an opportunity to do our daily "redo an era" thing!
1. Do What U Want
2. Sexxx Dreams
3. Fashion!
4. Manicure (if the last 3 work out well)
5. Gypsy (last singe of the era regardless of everything else, it deserved it)

Nothing compared to the 'Gaga will perform on Jimmy Fallon' "Oh my god, she's promoting a single well already. Bring on G.U.Y." "Yas, all you haters can bite it, she's coming to slay!" "Ready to be slain by G.U.Y., thank god we don't have to wait for the tour to hear/see it live "
Until the day of the show when an audience member reveals it's ARTPOP, and another audience member asks "Why is Lady Gaga singing a song about an iPod at my Jimmy Fallon taping?"
People talk about the Skype meltdown, the Born This Way cover meltdown, etc. But nothing can top the kiis from that day.
The accuracy of this entire post. On the subject of demos, I really do hope ARTPOP gets the Rebel Heart treatment someday and we get to hear everything, because with the way she changed the hee-hees, the Sex Dreams bridge, the breakdown in Jewels N' Drugs, the Aura vocals, imagine how the rest of the songs may have sounded at some time?
It was by far her most interesting time writing imo. Some of the ideas that came out of it may have been a bit naff and disjointed, but they all had potential.
I'd still love to know if there was ever a studio recording of IWBWY and the acoustic opening of Swine.
Are the "hee hee" parts in 'ARTPOP' actually different or just not as loud as the festival part? I always thought they were louder at the festival just because they were part of the backing track.
I still don't get the 'Aura' change. The original vocals are so GAGA that I can't wrap my head around her wanting to change them. I feel like maybe her record label made her change the song somehow because they didn't want a leaked track on it? I don't know.
Even though the writing isn't the best throughout, some of the writing is amazing. I think the metaphor of 'MANiCURE/MAN CURE' is brilliant as a female empowerment anthem. As wacky as it is, I think 'MJH' is written incredibly well. 'Swine' as a conceptual songs kills it, imo.
It was my fave song from ARTPOP until the album dropped, I was fighting SD stans for it to be the second single. And it didn't deserve the hate it got but honestly, if she came back from that blackout era with MANiCURE, Donatella or Jewels and Drugs I would have YELPED
I'm don't care so much about the specific artists as I do the sort of dreamy, otherworldly feel these songs have. If anyone can recommend me similar songs, or can tell me any genre/subgenre that ties all of these songs together, I will love you forever.
The Emma edits and draggins during the blackout era, including BrooklynNudesgate. We went TOO hard on the poor sis, the Iggy/Natalia draggings nowaday don't come anywhere near close

AMEN. Burqa was flawless.
Side note - what will stans in 10 years think, looking back on Lady Gaga threads, reading us all talk about hee-hees without knowing what the **** we mean by hee-hee? We should work on our terminology, because I think we sometimes sound like really deranged drunks.

Oh god, and that gif of Gaga pushing Emma over a ****ing cliff

I feel like the hee hees are definitely quieter but maybe it was the acoustics of the Roundhouse making them sound louder. Regardless, she should have heard them during that performance and made them louder tbh, they elevate the song to new levels.
I talked about this a couple weeks back; I distinctly remember myself and many other fans saying 'Aura is perfect if only the opening vocals were re-recorded/reworked/clearer', and I think she took it to mean the verses or whatever This is why she should never listen to fans, and I'm glad she isn't anymore.
And yeah, I totally agree. G.U.Y. is so clever as well, although I can see why some find it cheesy/tacky.

Try Pure Shores by All Saints, and basically most things produced by William Orbit in the late 90s. Another producer that needs to work with Gaga, preferably on her first post-maternal album ala Ray of Light.

I understand what you mean, but what are we supposed to call it? The background stoned chuckling?
The Emma stuff was actually disgusting guys. That stuff wasn't funny at all, and I have a pretty sick sense of humour usually, but yeah I found that pretty vile actually. /enddiscussion.
