Style had better expectations and definitely would have hit #1 if it was the second single/if she wasn't such a strong album's artist. All the people who bought the album weren't going to rebuy it as a single, considering they already owned it. On top of that, they were probably starting to get sick of the song by the time it became a single, because they'd had it on repeat every day for four months straight.
Maybe if she gave a **** about the song and didn't go out of her way to sabotage it. I don't get why the Lord would do this to the best song of her career.
Also, they released it WAY too early. Blank Space was still huge. It still gets insane amounts of airplay.

its been months since 1989 came out and everyone bought it . plus everyone was already listening to style before so idk how a 5 month old song can go #1.
