We have sth like "pre-exams" which are during those 13 weeks, like 2 or 3 in every subject. You have to pass these so you can take the real exam and these are during those 5 weeks. Some have even early dates and you can take them in the 13th week, but most of them are during the exam period. E.g. this semester I have 6 subjects (if I pass all the pre-exams) and it's all up to me how I schedule my exams in those 5 weeks. I can be done after 2 weeks or I can have exams the whole period. I don't have school or anything that whole month, I just go there to take the exams.
We started around Feb 9th and end around May 8th... then the exams start and the semester's officially over around June 12th.
