Things are progressing and changing for the better faster when it comes to gay people or racism and segregation, you can clearly see how much it has changed in the past 50 years, but not as much was done when it comes to womens rights and sexism. My own friends in high school have hated on me for being GAY without me even being OUT at the time and they've joked about me etc. which has made me cry so many times because it has only strenghtened the fear of being myself and so on.........

You realize that I don't even want to go back and live in my OWN country, which I love, because of the fact that I won't be happy being myself there and I will be facing hatred every day...... and my home country is not even that bad as Russia and others...... My country is somewhere in the middle..... what about the countries were it's illegal or where they kill you for being a homosexual ? The fact that my country is in EUROPE and I feel like that... what's left for people in parts of Asia incl. Russia, Africa and so on.....

ANYONE on here who says something like "A white gay man is more priviliged than a black gay man" and so on is simply COMPARING Homophobia to Racism to Gender Inequality which is completely STUPID, because we all want 1 thing and it's EQUALITY. Saying that Gay men are unprivilliged, but white gay people are "more privilliged" than black gay people is only in the context of comparing Homophobia with Racism etc. and that's simply WRONG and ILLOGICAL.

And the worst thing is that y'all are not comparing them in the sense of "WE HAVE TO FIGHT FOR THOSE ISSUES, WE HAVE TO END THOSE ISSUES"

Y'all are comparing them because "One party is better than the other" or "One party is having it worse than the other" that's so ignorant......

P.S. Madonna is intelligent. We all know that. Pretty sure that the context was probably different etc. but the EXACT QUOTE is enough to see that it's completely not RIGHT in the sense that this kind of thinking should not exist.... and considering how much Madonna has fought for Equality, Racism etc. I am pretty sure that she didn't mean to word it like that....

Madonna seems to be coming talking strictly about the western world with her remarks, and things have undeniable progressed farther for POC and gay people in the last 50 years than they have for women. If these people here could read, they would understand she isn't saying that racism doesn't exist or that black and gay people are more privileged than white women. What she's saying is that we still live in a society where women can be one of two things (a virgin or a *****), whereas we have made enormous strides to understand that black people, gay people, can be more than one of two things. We've come to understand that the color of someone's skin, their sexual orientation, shouldn't define them. But we seem to constantly be doing that with women.

Yeah right! Her argument is tremendously flawed! In this day and age in the USA are you really telling me that women are regarded as ****s for not being virgins? You can tell me that with a straight face? So all the non virgins out there in monogamous relationship are systemically discriminated against? PLEASE. Even if there is ****shaming on an individual basis, that does not even compare to discrimination experienced by gays who can't even legally marry in all of the states.

You and Madonna, bitch about ****shaming and "dating younger man". I mean, do your cause a favor and try to mention abortion right's, healthcare rights regarding anti-conception or equal pay.

It's messy even trying to get into the Oppression Olympics but whereas attitudes towards gays have been that people accept they have been oppressed, there is still a big majority of people who refuse to believe women are being oppressed, far less for doing something to change that.

I agree with what a lot of you are saying but to say women aren't oppressed is just ugly and wrong. I do agree we shouldn't compare battles but what do you expect when these groups can't even get along? Just because all these groups are oppressed doesn't make the sexism, homophobia, racism, etc disappear between them (you can tell from this thread alone about the sexism in the Gay community). When people improve on this within themselves maybe we can fight for the rights of all these people together.

People are certainly not a lot more open minded to and tolerant of homosexuality than they are of women, 'period'. Two women in a relationship is arguably more socially acceptable than two men in one. Oppression is oppression. It's not a competition. It doesn't matter who has it worse or who has it better. It happens and that's unfortunate enough as it is.

Does this woman think before she speaks or is she on drugs? Women might be the most oppressed group but that doesn't exist outside of racism and homophobia. You can be a woman and be subjected to racism and homophobia/transphobia, as well as gender inequality and misogyny.

Madonna is a rich, white woman. Why is she whining about people telling her to put clothes on/stop acting like a teenager and going out of her way to make it seem worse than the thousands of LGBTs who are incarcerated, slaughtered and beheaded for their sexual orientation each year? Extremely offensive and tasteless of her.
