I hope you're right. If Hotel serves a Freak Show/Coven mess it won't be getting a Season 6. Though people should already anticipate a decline in ratings starting with the premiere since Freak Show was so bad that I personally know lots of people turned off by the show.

Though we all know Gaga's the one who's gonna get blamed, as per usual. :P

Freak Show was a **** season, but she was good in episodes 4, 5, 8, 9 & 10.

Only times she was bad in Coven was, like, parts of episode 10 & 12.

Um yes?? When the material is a pile of **** you can't expect an actor to show passion for a project. Like Ezra on PLL who seems so over his role ever since season 3.

Emma might not be a deep, sophisticated actress, the fact is though that when she was given decent material (Coven) she was a highlight of the show. (At least every single person I've ever talked with about Coven said that Madison was one of the few good parts of the show.)

In Freak Show the material was so disturbingly bad that I cannot even judge her performance.

Let me use Meryl Streep for an example... ONLY as an example because we know she's in a completely different league than Emma.

We have a movie like Iron Lady which is certified rotten... but in this case Meryl was able to transform herself into the role and still managed to win Best Actress.

Sure the final product was arguably terrible but they still didn't fault the actress.

So let me ask again... What's Emma's excuse?

Emma's excuse it that she's a few thousand years younger than Meryl and way WAY WAY less experienced. You can't expect a 20-something year old actress to manage to handle such a situation with the same expertise and mastery as a woman who's (not only, as you said, in a completely different league) been in the industry for many decades.

Besides, I even said that Emma might not be a deep, sophisticated uber talented actress. She's in no way bad though. She gets the job done in worst case scenarios and she's quite good in roles that either fit her or that are well written.

That's my opinion of course and I'm not even a fan of hers, I literally couldn't care less about her. But even Jessica Lange was bad this season, she overacted many of her scenes and way kind of dull, so that IMO further proves that the cast didn't put their heart in it. (Expect Dandy and Queen Frances)

Edit: Emma was also pretty good in Scream 4 and We're The Millers. Can't really hold Freak Show against any of the actors, sorry.

Good point. I will say that she improved during the 2nd half of the season but that first half was complete trash. I'm actually not even sure why Ryan thought it was a good idea to cast her.

So because she's young she deserves a free pass?

I don't think so! We have young actresses who have received high acclaim in their fields... Anna Paquin.... Quvenzhané Wallis... Both stellar actresses who were able to deliver amazing performances.

So now that we can take age out of the equation... what is Emma's excuse?

I think what it boils down to is pure talent... and it's obvious that minus playing a bitch - Emma has NONE.

Please. We've seen like...a handful of scenes from her music videos, it's not comparable to something like serialized television. Let's not act like we can write her off already.

Emmy Rossum, who's only four years older, has been doing it just fine for the past five years though.

The only false thing was Dandy his death. Everything else came true-- Maggie her entire arc, Test if Strength having Stanley FORCE his way into getting freaks, etc.

The idea of "D" & "E" characters dying wasn't from the same insider.
