Poor Madonna. You can tell Gaga has gotten under her skin hence why she didn't show up to her own Oscar party due to "prior arrangements" (lol like those parties aren't planned a year in advance). And now yet another mention of Gaga in an interview. Gaga will always haunt her from now on.
The similarities are striking. Whether the structure is similar to other songs doesn't take away from the fact that it does sound A LOT like EY, more than any other 80's pop song.
In any case, Madonna had the right to be upset when Gaga lied on national tv about getting M's approval, when she clearly never did, as seen by M's past statements and her rep's official talk to CNN.
She basically said Born This Way is THE only problem she has with Gaga.
It doesn't take much to see the similarities between the two but she shouldn't keep doing the most as if everyone has to have heard a random Madonna song from the multiple decades ago
And NO to a collabo. Gaga is finally getting her career back on track while Living For Love is not even in the top 300 on iTunes. Gosh, even Annie Lennox her single got a bigger sales boost after the Grammys. Sorry Madge, you'll have to find another victim, no shade, just Tea.
i never heard the similarities between Born this way and express yourself, but another song off of BTW called Black Jesus/Amen Fashion, the verses sound A LOT like expess yourself
It was just that one little section you had to read. It's not that hard to comprehend, & it's the content of the OP that is what matters.
BTW was a copy of Express Yourself. We all know that. Madonna simply stated what is already known, then went on to praise her. What's the big deal?
Yes, one section in a giant wall of text with no indication of where in the article to look. The OP knew what quote would get a reaction and highlighted that as a result. The thread title even highlighted the "blatant ripoff" part and conveniently left out everything else. That's the big deal. Don't act brand new.
All won't be happy unless Madonna blacklists Gaga.
She didn't even MAKE the entire statement about the BTW/EY issue. It was one little comment in there in a statement basically praising Gaga and bashing media & fans for pitting them against each other. I literally don't see anything wrong, except for a small word choice issue with "blatant rip off".
She was asked about Gaga once, and answered it to the best of her ability, while praising her. I'm literally not seeing what's wrong here.
The problem is Madonna is the Queen of Pop. And the Queen of Pop is getting asked about Lady Gaga in 2015, 4 years after this "beef". That doesn't bode well for Madonna.
If y'all really don't hear the similarities y'all have no ears. It's almost the same chord progression, same key, and Gaga almost sings the proper melody of Express Yourself.
