Notes:
-Jokes along with Sway about their scene on Empire, Heather from The Real World attempts to act like Cookie and fails.
-Taraji knew that Empire would be a hit, Jussie didn't know that the show would be as big as it was.
-Discusses the Mighty Ducks and his little sister, Jurnee. He says that there is no sibling rivalry in the family at all. He calls Jurnee his favorite actor in the planet and praises her work and the roles that she selects. He says that their family is like the Lyon family, minus all the killings and drama.
-He says that we are dealing with homophobia in the black community and in hip-hop because that is what the show is about. He then goes on to say that NOBODY else is being let the hook for homophobia and that the problem exists outside of the black community.
-He says that Empire is not a "gay black" show.
-He is not willing to confirm or deny anything about his sexual orientation. He doesn't want people to put him in a box, he doesn't talk about his personal life.
-Fox doesn't own all the rights to his music.
-Talks about how he almost tried out for The X-Factor, he didn't try out because he read the contract and didn't like it.
-Talks about the comparisons to Power. He says that people only compare the shows because both of the shows have leading men of color. He praises Power and the actors on the show.
I really wanna know about the music deal he signed with FOX
Are we getting any original music during Empire's taping?
It's actually a **** deal. Any music he makes, even independent from the show, is owned by Fox. He basically has no rights to his own music until the show ends or he's written out.
I watched that movie back when Empire premiered and I fell in love with it, the cast had amazing chemistry and I know at one point, they were talking about doing a sequel.
Translation: I'm gay and don't want to explicitly say because I'm scared it'll change the perception of me and I'll be typecast in the same gay black male role. So much that answer about not caring in the Cosmo interview.
And he needs to stop pandering to the people complaining about the show tackling homophobia in the black community with that "it's not just black people" line. There are different levels of homophobia in different communities.
