I can't decide if they were cleaver or stupid releasing it almost a week later after the performance, one hand the hype is dying from the grammys, so no one is gonna be checking for the video now, however she is a video/streaming force and this might help it from free falling
I think it was smart to wait. The hype from the peformance is wearng off, so this upload is way of reminding people of that moment. Plus, it was praised by many!

all rap albums debut high and then fall off. it's always a major event, especially since casual rap fans aren't really a thing. the fan perspective found on kanyetothe is much more common in the real world than the fan perspective found on ATRL. pop girls don't have that type of hype and genuine excitement. it's not the same. these aren't impulse buys imo.
i don't think rih has the fanbase to pull numbers like this, therefore i don't want a surprise album. i think that a short promo campaign would be beneficial, but not a surprise release. with a surprise she would probably do 300-350k... the same numbers she could achieve with a purposeful and smart campaign. it's not worth it.
This.
Let's not be delusional...If Rih tried to do a surprise release it would flop (by Rihanna standards) and she'd get dragged to Hell by everyone, me included. She doesn't have the fanbase to surprise drop an album and have it be a major success. Hell, half the" Navy" doesn't even buy her albums now and her casual fans are really only here for singles.
I want an announcement at least a month in advance, and promo spots on Ellen, SNL, and late night.
The first live performances of OG, WFL & Diamonds were more than 1 month after the songs' release.
Literally nothing happened (promo wise) between the release of those lead singles and their first live performance (except for their videos, which were all released more than 1 month after the songs).

really? :O I guess they are waiting for it to gain more AI before they make the push for #1
