He's absolutely right, although he could've said it nicer. Congratulations to Beck, but everyone in that room knew who the real deserving winner was. Who else could've pulled off the surprise release? With such critical acclaim? Beck winning Album of the Year is just academy politics at its' best. The way the academy works is you have a bunch of old men who want to stick it to "pop music" so they decide to vote for the white guy with the guitar. I would know as I am a member of the recording academy, and I got to vote this year. Why did Arcade Fire win album of the year? same reason.

I get what he was saying but at the end of the day she still walks out winning. How many Grammys can Beck realistically say he's won over Bey. 1 to her 20. He shouldn't be so bothered by it, but hey it is what it is. People are so quick to throw labels on the guy but forget he is one of the most decorated grammy winners of all time. He obviously cares about the craft enough to still be a historical winner and still be upset. Some of y'all need to sit and reflect before coming at someone who deeply cares about the art to make a stink over something that really doesn't apply to him.

I agree with everything he said. There is nothing interesting or impactful about Morning Phase. Competing against an album that literally stopped the world and started many discussions on music distribution and feminism, Beck's album shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. If he were winning for an album like Mellow Gold or Odelay, I would not be insulting his win at all, those are actually authentic and amazing albums. But the fact that he just now wins AOTY for his most soft and uneventful album over an album like BEYONCÉ is laughable.

Kanye hasn't attended the Grammys in six years and decides to finally show up and promote his music (let's not pretend that he doesn't know that he is fading commercially and needs the exposure). Did he really think the Grammy changed in that time span?

Charlemagne was right. Kanye is a hypocrite and talks way too much about "artistry!!!", yet is the definition of commercialism.
