Say Somethin' obviously wasn't a good single choice. The chorus is kind of catchy but overall the melody is too complex, it's not the kind of song that you want to listen over and over again. Plus, they didn't promote it the least. I find it not very surprising that the song performed so weakly on the charts.

The real interesting question is your last one. Stay The Night originally was intented to serve as Mimi's lead single but L.A. Reid supposedly advised her to record a few more, let's say, powerful songs, so she wrote and recorded It's Like That then, and it was chosen to be the first single. I have never read anything about why did not release Stay The Night later on. It would have been perfect after Don't Forget About Us, it's way catchier than Say Somethin' but God knows know why they decided the way they did.

Maybe it's because WBT, SIO and DFAU were all ballads, so releasing a 4th consecutive slow song would have been too much for them. Maybe they were intending to release STN after SS, but then SS tanked, so the era ended. Still, one more single or a US release for GYN would have been amazing. TEOM was an incredible era, but I can't help but feel it ended a little abruptly

Shake it Off was the third single in USA, I don't think Europe would eat up RnB song thus her team released GYN as third international single but later Shake It Off was released as a single in Australia and New Zealand, and as a double A-side with "Get Your Number" in Ireland and the United Kingdom. GYN is not single material in USA and vice versa . SS was a flop because it has no promo Mariah was busy prep her tour and next album . Stay The Night and Circles should have been released as singles, in fact there are a lot of single materials in this album but i don't think Mariah has to release all of them.

Mine Again and Stay The Night were both extremely radio friendly, so it's a shame they didn't get their shine Both of them are better than any E=MC2 single Although TYB is a major guilty pleasure

If Mariah releases an album this year, guys, PLEASE ffs buy it not only once, but many times as possible. Buy her singles too even though it's not "pleasing" on your "standard" or "taste". Too bad i don't have a credit card and work. All i can do is to make banners for her and buy her new album on dvd stores (i am struggling to earn money). to be honest, the lambily is very small (compared to the hive, beliebers, swifties, directioners, navy, etc) and yet, y'all are still not supporting the **** out of her. I never saw her slay so much like during the 90s and TEOM. i was so young that time. i want her to prove the world wrong. i want her to shut everyone down. I want her to surpass the beatles. i don't want her to be surpassed by rihanna or katy or whoever no talent singer it maybe. she doesn't deserve that. i want her to stay winning. And I hope moving on epic would help her revive her career.
