Bionic is the most ruthlessly dragged and viciously trashtalked album and era of all time. No other popstar in the history of music has ever received such a strong, incessant media backlash or experienced a faster and bigger demise.
The catastrophe started when NMT was globally panned and flopped harder than any other pop lead single, failing to reach the top 20, even after heavy promo and an expensive video.
Then, the album performed even worse, selling less than 20% of its budget and all the global promo was cancelled along with the tour
The second single, YLM, became her first single to miss the Hot 100 and the era was scrapped 3 months after it started.
Christina’s fatal mistake was giving in to her label’s interventions and ditching her original organic, experimental concept. She actually had a Ray Of Light-sized, career defining pop masterpiece in her hands and threw it away. She kept a few tracks as deluxe edition bonuses and filled the standard edition with disposable, try-hard, amateur techno beats, basic lyrics and poorly mastered vocals. She abandoned the lane she so passionately created with Stripped and B2B. She tried to fit in with the new pop girls, whereas everyone expected –and wanted- her to stand out. And therefore, she failed... hard. Before 2010, Christina had the perfect pop career, combining success and respect, but Bionic singlehandedly destroyed her, made her a laughing stock (Floptina) and hindered her legacy.
I’m writing this essay 5 years after its release and she still hasn’t fully bounced back. Bionic is the worst and most disastrous career move anyone’s ever made.

C'mon Let Me Ride your bicycle. I mean how bad does that sound from the very beginning? It's like a bad Peacock parody, yet for some reason Skylar Grey decided it would be a good idea to release it as her lead single. Especially for an artist known for her piano ballads both for herself and other artists, I can't understand how releasing that song was a good idea in anyone's minds. So obviously it flopped, bad. Radio didn't want to play a song about a bicycle penis and the GP didn't want to buy it either. And the cringeworthy bridge too ("I'm not like the ****s in this town, you make me bleh in my mouth") The song couldn't even pass #50 on iTunes before rocketing down off of the iTunes charts completely soon after. As a stan I was embarassed to have that song in my fave's discography, especially when there were so many better songs on the album. There's a reason Skylar's a flop, and this is it

So Truth Teller definitely had the edge over GotSkill's submission. Its not really too fair, but because Bionic was a full blown era with plenty of mistakes and fails on Christina's part compared to the minorly horrible C'mon Let Me Ride, Truth Teller wins this round.

GotSkill's is understandable, though the song is still not bad and was made as a joke in the first place, and yet it's still her most viewed video on YouTube (as the lead artist) and it's her biggest single (again, as lead.) Truth Teller easily wins this one because it's an obvious choice and is 100% true.

Jordin Sparks vs RCA : The Worst Mistake
Jordin Sparks continued with RCA after Jive closed on her after doing her wrong by calling it quits on her second album. They gave her over to RCA. Now RCA held Jordin Sparks tossing her back and forth like a football. She recorded 3 versions of her album with RCA. One was supposed to be an EDM album. Her lead single was titled "Is This Love" slated for a 2011 release but RCA scrapped it and it surfaced in 2013. Another was supposed to be released in 2012 but RCA said Jordin was too busy, but in fact she said she was not busy and ready.2013 She worked with many producers, teased her material and started a countdown for her fans. Her lead single was snatched by Ariana Grande "The Way" the hit that got away. They scrapped her duet with Jason Derulo "Before It Breaks" and made her release a buzz single for free. They blew smoke the entire time. In 2014 they let Jordin go. Overall, RCA costed Jordin her career. The time they held her was time that people lost interest in her and forgot who she was.

2. Worst Career Move
Nick Jonas' worst career move came in the form of the above photoshoot. Following this photoshoot, Jonas isolated all of his conservative young fans, who didn't understand the tingles that he made them feel inside. In addition, he was banned from North Korea and the Middle East for indecent exposure, so he could never promote there again, losing countless sales. His record label is rumored to drop him for his rampant sexualization, and all Jonas has left to gain are hordes of gay men who are obsessed with his abs. Miss Cleo predicts that by the end of 2015, Jonas' career will be over, and he will be held hostage as a sex slave by insane members of the pop music forum, ATRL. Truly a downfall, truly the worst fate EVER possible.

Poor Speezy. I actually don't see Jordin's move to be one she actually choose for herself. I believe in the deal RCA made when aquiring Jive artists, all people from the roster might have been evaluated and then sent to RCA, but I have this belief she herself did not choose this path. I mean if I should believe the fact she wasn't allowed to release any music for the past 4 years she was with RCA, are you telling me after I Am Woman flopped she would have stuck with RCA when she probably already knew Jive/RCA wasn't managing her career well. Something doesn't add up, and for me that is this "label move" being her worst career choice when I frankly believe she didn't have a choice.
Now this photoshoot for Nick Jonas, this seemed to me like an actual career move. It drew a lot of attention to him in the media and some of the things you stated in your entry was true from possibly isolating the younger fans he used to have and stuff. I couldn't get a grip that this entry wasn't as literal as it was a bit more trollish but some decent points came up.
So for Element giving me a career move of some sort that i felt the artist actually chose this fate for themselves, Element wins this round for me.

Nick Jonas' photoshoot got him tons of headlines when he barely got any before, helped out sales a little, and brought Jealous to the TOP 10 of iTunes and Billboard. North Korea and the Middle East will have to deal, as that is legit the only con from this situation. Speezy definitely has it because, just like many artists, she was heavily screwed over by Epic and her career had to pay the price.

Britney's Worst Career Move - Keven Federline
Before the head shaving, the public Blackout, the umbrellas, driving around town loose lipped, there was Kevin Federline, Riff Raff 1.0.
He truly is pop's greatest villain. Britney was 'In The Zone' before she met him, at the peak of her commercial and artistic success.
She was engaged in her music, career, and one of the best performers in the world. The world was hers.
Unfortunately, that meant there were plenty of vampires ready to latch onto her success.
K-Fed worked his way into her life and brought out the worst in her, encouraged her worst habits, and damaged her brand and was responsible for the new chaotic Britney.
She'd come back, but never got back to her peak after all the relationship and personal trouble he brought. She could have been the best in pop, but he held her back for so long that her career never recovered.
Even though she got her revenge eventually
her career never got back on the same track it was.

ARTPOP: Worst Career Move.
Lady Gaga's third Album, an known ATRL meme, & one of the biggest flops in our community.
As an era, such a completely disaster from start to end. Here are some highlights from the era.
Quote:
- Everything begins with, Applause, AP's first single. After an early leak, Her team rushed into release it way before to its original release, making a huge mistake releasing it 'coincidentally' the same that Katy Perry's single, Roar.
Everyone knows what happened next.
- Months after ''Applause'', good things started to happen (iTunes Festival, Longevity in Applause), & everyone felt the era could be safed. But a week before its release, as commun, critics started reviewing it, & definitely not expected, they didn't like it at all. Gaga was always a critic's darling, & this may affect her in a future
Buy HEY!, Albums can be successful with no acclaim or grammys, right?
- Well, Children, that wasn't the case. HDD Billboard, months before predicted some big numbers for ARTPOP, BTW debuted with 1M+ so she was expected to do at least 400k.
But that wasn't either the case, ARTPOP debuted with disappointing numbers. Every little monster heart was broken after seeing this thread.
Totally the cherry on top.

*sigh. Bloomers I didn't see Britney dating Kevin Federline as a career move. Now do I think it influenced the fact she no longer performed music for a long period of time yes, but with things like her knee injury and wanting to take time off from being always so busy, i don't think I can totally get on board with Britney dating Kevin Federline as a legit career move. Now her making a comeback and performing at the VMA awards in 2007 when it was evident she wasn't up to par to performing live again, that is probably her worst career move she chose.
Now Cristian, i read all your points about your entry. I would have drawn a bit of focus on Lady Gaga's choices she placed to make this era the worst move of her career. With some more of that I would have liked your entry a bit more.
Overall Crusthian wins this round for me.

Cristhian - This tragedy would have worked against pretty much any artist except Britney so it's unfortunate.

K.Fed was more of a personal problem for Britney rather than a career problem, it may have hindered it a little bit but I think her downfall was the quality of her music (though I still love her music, but apparently the GP isn't all that amazed.) ARTPOP, though overrated in how much it "flopped" when it was mostly just a significant underperformance, definitely takes the cake.

A win gives you 3 points, draw 1 point and a loss 0 points.
Especially when it completely kills you on the inside.
There's a reason people call her a robot.
You know while I don't agree with the concept that we can now count whomever someone dates as a career move, ONE could say that Britney dating one of her backup dancers was an unprofessional career move on her part since you don't mix business with pleasure and all the other stuff you said about Kevin Fed. If you added that ONE detail, I would have voted for you
